Dimitra Dede
‘Metaphors’
by Dimitra Dede, published by Void.
Sold out from the publisher.
Like Sylvia Plath’s homonym poem, 'Metaphors' is a compelling, direct and symbolic book.
Metaphors
‘Metaphors’ is Dimitra Dede’s third publication — the second published by Void.
Dede dives more deeply into the motherhood subject. Bringing to this delicate handmade book a true poetic narrative. Dimitra's experimental black-and-white photographs dialogue with excerpts from Sylvia Plath’s 'Metaphors'. As the poem, the book is tight in its edit, with no room for excess.
“‘Metaphors’ questions —with the visual force that we know from the artist working between Athens and London— the mystery of the forces presiding over the appearance of life. ”
Fabien Ribery
Every editorial detail was chosen to highlight the delicacy of Dimitra’s work. The Risograph printing and the tactile uncoated paper. The French folds. The cloth binding. All elements elevate the object to the height of Dede's photographs: human and touching.
This limited edition —which comes in 5 different cover title versions— was handbound in Void studio in Athens, in the fall of 2022.
