‘Bleak House’ is a proposition based on a narrative device used in the chapterized Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name from 1852—1853. Dickens’ novel is a typical Victorian story of intrigue regarding the dynamics of English class structure and its hidden affairs. ‘Bleak House’ proposes a narration of how artists function under the idea of an oblique and omniscient author.
Bleak House
Bleak House (2020—22) is a project with 12 artists. The focus of the “plot” revolves around the idea of producing art under the duress of our current crisis. Without naming the 2020 author directly, the works consider how artists respond to the challenges of producing work in an unprecedented time. It examines the moment, the retreat from normality and reconsiders how work is made under new conditions. It is a proposition in which the artist’s only concern is to produce images during the first half of 2020.

The Box Set
Publihsed in a numbered limited edition of 20 copies, the box set containing all the 12 zines was released in OCT ‘22, and sold out in 2 days.
Handbound in many different styles by Void’s team in its studio in Athens, the whole process took almost one year to accomplish.
Summing up a total of 842, the 12 zines were printed digitally by the awarded printing house MAS Matbaa in Istanbul, Turkey.
Every zine comes with a special leaflet including its credits, and dates of when the publication was originally published online.
