Lead by Void team, the workshops are aimed at photographers who have a complete body of work and would like to present it in the form of a publication. Its purpose is to create and environment of open discussion, where artists can experiment with the print form, and materialize a final object for a completed body of work.

WHERE?
In Lisbon, Portugal and in Athens, Greece.

WHEN?
XX – YY ZZZ ‘19 in Lisbon
XX – YY ZZZ ‘19 in Athens

HOW MUCH?
It is free. Both to submit and to attend.
No hidden copyright theft. No nothing.
Well, almost nothing... artists should pay their own production expenses like printing and paper.

FOR WHOM?
The workshop is open artists to all ages and nationalities.
International participants are welcome, as long as they can manage to attend the whole length of the chosen workshop.

DON’T GO TO HELL!
Please, be conscious and make sure you can attend to the workshop before applying. Check the dates and read entirely the terms and rules. Selected artists that don’t show up are taking a place of someone else. You will go to hell if this happens. Whatever hell you believe in.

The Lisbon ‘Hunger’ workshop

Up to 4 portfolios will be selected for producing a publication out of it. The purpose of this workshop is to create for each artist an unique publication with their work, that can later be reprint in a bigger edition at their own discretion.

The workshop will be spread in 3 meetings:

First meeting: 00 XXX ‘19 – Editing and discussion
The first day will be based on presenting the work, discussing between the participants possible narratives and doing a sequencing for the 4 projects. Also, we will discuss if the projects should be presented as a zine or a book.

Second meeting: 00-11 XXX ‘19 – Design
The second meeting will be design based. Each of the participants will have individual meetings with Void’s designer. Design ideas and possibilities will be discussed, and the files will be done in order to be printed in the following days.

Third meeting: 00 XXX ‘19 – Production
This is a hands-on meeting. Publications will be printed and bound, following the previous discussions. 2 copies of the publication will be printed: one to the artist, one to Void. Void’s copy will be presented in an event that will take place at Void in the end of the Athens ‘Hunger’ workshop at XX XXX ‘19. Extra copies can be printed at the artist’s demand at their own costs.

Interested artists should submit their application to talkto@void.photo (“LISBON HUNGER WORKSHOP” as subject):

1. A PDF with a coherent and completed body of work – a collection of spare photos will NOT be considered.
2. A straight-forward text about the presented project.
3. A short artist’s bio.
4. Make yourself familiar with our terms & conditions.

The deadline for submissions is: 00 XXX ‘17.
The 4 selected portfolios will be confirmed and announced in the following days of the deadline.
The workshop can be held either in Portuguese or in English, depending on the selected artists.
Each photographer can submit more than one project to appreciation, but only one proposal will be executed.

A FEW PRACTICAL THINGS

Take sometime to read the rules below and our terms and conditions.

-

The purpose of this workshop is to create for each artist an unique publication with their work, that can later be reprint in a bigger edition.

For that reason, by the end of the workshop all artist are entitled to own the set of PDF files that were created for their publication, during the workshop. With those files you will be able to reprint and bind the exact same publication as it is printed during the workshop.

As a non negotiable rule, we don’t ever supply InDesign files. The reason Void supplies PDF and not the InDesign files is: The PDF files have the highest possible quality to print the publication in its best, so you don’t need anything else. And the only reason to have an InDesign files, is to make further editing. And we cannot review and endorse further editings on the work we did.

We would also like to add that because of lack of time from our side, those files are final and will not be altered and adjusted by us after the end of the workshop. As you might understand, it would be extremely difficult and time consuming to keep working and doing small changes on every single project after the end of each workshop. So, during the workshop, make sure you have something you are happy with.

Participants are responsible to make their own arrangements regarding travel and accommodation. We can inform you about accommodation and food options if needed.

Void is not responsible for reimbursement of travel expenses in case the workshop is cancelled. We highly recommend that you buy refundable air tickets and/or travel insurance.
